Children and Families
We welcome and encourage families to join us in the desert lands this year for Passover. There will be a Children’s Village for children ages 5 to 12 where children will spend their time in the great outdoors, exploring, playing games, making natural crafts, and creating a contribution for our seder. We will provide childcare for children 4 and under during the Wilderness Encounter on Friday where all adults will be given time to spend time in nature alone. Other than that specific period, children 4 and under are welcome to join their parents in family friendly offerings, but there will not be childcare provided.
There will also be sturdy shade structures that buffer windstorms and provide shelter from the elements when needed. We are doing our best to create a space that is safe and comfortable for families. And, we ask you to keep in mind that this is a wilderness camping trip with limited primitive facilities. Prior successful camping experience is recommended.
There will be kid friendly snacks available throughout the day and each dinner will have a “Kid’s Corner” with simpler food specific for the pallets of young ones. In each offering slot there will be at least one option that is “family friendly,” meaning that children are welcome with parent supervision. See our schedule for more details.
At Passover in the Desert, we have an exciting opportunity to share the responsibility of caring for our children as a village. However, it is imperative that parents ensure that when not in the Children’s Village their children are under adult supervision at all times.
The Passover Children’s Village is co-sponsored by our friends at the The Jewish Federation of the East Bay and the PJ Library
