Work Exchange
Work exchange for Passover in the Desert 2012 is closed. To apply for work exchange, please read this entire page first…
Passover in the Desert is reasonably priced at a sliding scale for everything including meals. This fee does not cover all of the costs it takes for Wilderness Torah to produce the festival. Many people apply for work-exchange. Do you truly need it? If so, read on…
What does it mean to be part of the Work Exchange Team at Passover in the Desert?
Our work exchange program enables many folks to be a part of the inner workings and creation of the
village. Our village depends on having a solid team of folks willing to roll up their sleeves and do the work it takes to create this awesome gathering! It is a great way to save money, meet new friends, and play an important role at the festival.
If the job is a FULL work exchange, we can offer you a ticket at no charge, that is a $400 value for up to 22 hours of work. If the job is a PARTIAL work exchange it is priced at $165 and it is up to 12 hours of work. Anytime that you are working a shift, even if it is loading or unloading the truck or during set-up or break-down, we will provide meals.
Each work exchange role is integral to the health of the whole system. It is a job that you are being paid for as an exchange for your ticket. When you do not show up it affects many other people. For that reason, if the hours that you agree to are not full filled, we will ask for you to pay the difference after the festival at $20/hr.
To apply for work exchange please read the descriptions of the jobs below and fill out our online work exchange application. You will hear back from us in the beginning of March. If we are unable to offer you work exchange, you will still have access to the lowest price on our sliding scale.
Work Exchange Jobs Available Include:
Loading and Unloading the truck (PARTIAL for one day, FULL for both): Everything that is part of our village is transported down there in a very large truck. It takes a full day to load and then unload all of our belongings from the truck to and from the storage shed in Emeryville, near Berkeley. We will need people on Sunday April 8th from 9am to 7pm to load and do pick-ups, and people on Tuesday April 17th from 10am-7pm to unload and do drop-offs.
