Shavuot, the second of our three holy pilgrimage festivals (Passover, Shavuot, Sukkot), is the celebration of Revelation – when we received the Torah and the wisdom of our tradition atop the great Mount Sinai. Shavuot also marks the spring harvest – bikkurim, the harvest of the first fruits – when we can celebrate the season and share both the spiritual and edible fruits we have harvested since our Passover liberation.

On Shavuot (literal translations “weeks”), we also culminate the counting of the omer, the 49 days of spiritual preparation between Passover and Shavuot.

In the spirit of the 15th Century Kabbalists’ practice to stay up all night for the Tikkun Leil Shavuot in preparation to receive Divine wisdom, we too will have a roaring fire and offerings throughout the night to prepare for revelation.

One Shavuot tradition is to decorate with fresh flowers to symbolize the bikkurim (first fruits). We ask that anyone who is able bring a bouquet of flowers, wild or bought (local if possible!) to decorate our camp.
